Power BI Masterclass Prerequisites
Whether your staff have only ever used the Online Service version of Power BI before, or they have no previous experience at all with Power BI, this is the course they should undertake if you need an end-to-end bootcamp which takes rookie users from scratch and converts them into skilled data modellers with the Desktop version of Power BI. Some prior understanding of data management would be advantageous.
Who should take this Power BI Masterclass course?
If you need to get your staff from absolute beginners through to an advanced level of competency with Power BI in under a week then this is the course that we recommend.
If your learmers already have a fair level of experience working with the Power BI desktop, then we recommend our three-day advanced course instead.

What is the Teaching Method for Our Power BI Courses?
The teaching methodology for our Power BI courses is Instructor-led training (ILT), which means that our courses are engaging, immersive, hands-on and interactive. With this participatory learning method your staff will retain information better, whether they're studying Power BI subjects in-person or via live virtual classroom.
And, whilst we're happy to provide lectures, show-and-tells and drop-in surgeries, the ILT approach is by far the best way to bring your Power BI know-how to life in a small-class-size setting.
How Long are our Power BI Courses?
Usual teaching hours for our Power BI courses are 9.30AM to 4.30PM with a lunch hour and short breaks morning and afternoon. This timetable is fairly standard across the industry and gives six hours of hands-on Power BI learning, which is an optimal day's training for comfortably absorbing and retaining information and completing practice exercises.
If you want a different start time for your course please let us know.
Courses are run week days, during normal business hours.

1) A fuzzy lookup allows you to return results based upon parameterised similarities as opposed to ones based upon exact matches.
2) Not dissimilar to DAX (see below), M Language is a Power Query formula language which allows you to use functions to filter and combine data from one or more sources.
3) Simply put, DAX measures are what you might refer to as functions and/or formulas in other applications such as Excel. The DAX formula language is more specialised than this suggests though and it provides measures for working with relational data and aggregating data from multiple sources. As a formula language, DAX consists of all the components of a formula including its functions, constants and operators.
4) In its simplest sense, a decomposition tree is a type of visualisation in Power BI which allows you to drill down through your data (with AI) to perform "root cause analysis". The term orginates from graph theory which uses the tree decomposition model to map the fastest computational route to solving a mathematical question.
5) Power BI Slicers provide a means of quickly filtering portions of your data model with the click of a button. In Power BI Slicers provide a really simple way of sculpting your visualisations. The two main types of slicer tools are dropdown slicers and slider slicers.
