Is Microsoft Project hard to learn?

When people struggle to learn Microsoft Project without formal training this is often because they don't learn the basics first. Unlike Excel or Word you can't just open the software and start typing. For instance, diving right in at scheduling and managing before you understand planning in Project and the relationships and dependancies between resources, calendars and tasks could mean that you spend more time troubleshooting than you do learning.

By far the best way to learn Microsoft Project is to start at the beginning and take a step-by-step approach. Our advice when learning MS Project is to ensure you have solid foundational knowledge upon which to build your skills.

The same is true for Project Online for which it is no less necessary to grasp project planning first and this is why planning dominates the first day of our two-to-three-day Project Online end user course.
