Is Microsoft Project hard to learn?

When people struggle to learn Microsoft Project without formal training this is often because they don't learn the basics of Project first. Unlike Excel or Word you can't just open the software and start typing. For instance, diving right in at scheduling and managing before you understand planning in Project and the relationships and dependancies between resources, calendars and tasks could mean that you spend more time troubleshooting than you do learning.

By far the best way to learn Microsoft Project is to start at the beginning and take a step-by-step approach. Our advice when learning Microsoft Project would be to ensure that you have solid foundational knowledge of the basics upon which to build your skills.

The same is just as true for Project Online as it is for On-Premise standalone versions of Microsoft Project and with Project Online it is no less necessary to grasp project planning before moving on to scheduling and managing and this is why planning dominates the first day of our two-day to three-day Project Online end user course.
